I have never felt so alone in my life. Not even my family understands me. Guess this is a fresh start in more ways than one.
I choose the road less traveled.
"Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things - air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky - all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it"- Cesare Pavese

My Ever Evolving Dream by Emily Boedeker
Have your dreams for yourself
ever changed? Have you ever considered the road you’re traveling may have an
alternate route to your destination? As many of you know, I have added another
“hat” to my current employment status. Along with my main career being an
Assistant Band Director, I have embarked on personal business ownership as an
Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay. Recently, at the encouragement of
my Unit’s National Sales Director, I’ve been driven to share the reason why I
decided to add another adventure in my life. It’s the dream, the ever evolving dream.
Life happens to us, whether we’re
ready for it or not. April 8, 2015, life happened and I was left lost, hurt,
and leaning on faith. Fortunately life has a way of working out, even if it
isn’t ideal. In June, I found myself struggling to regain control of my life.
No, not an issue with moral decisions, but I had essentially lost my “spark”.
June 26, 2015 at my cousin’s wedding, I received a text message (of all thingsJ) that ignited a dream. Debbie
Hocott has been in my life since I can remember my childhood. In fact, my
memories of my childhood start with her and her family. I’ve never known life
without them! (Sorry if you all aren’t this fortunate.) In one picture comment,
my life changed. Debbie texted me and said (I’m summarizing) “You need to join
Mary Kay”. Now, remember how I said “life happens to us”, well, life was
happening and at my cousins wedding reception, my life’s dream began evolving.
The next evening, I signed my
consultant contract and ordered my starter kit. For the first time in what felt
like ages, I had something to look forward to. Then came decisions – What do I
do for inventory? Money is already tight due to “life happening”, and I have no
sales experience. Debbie was right there by my side (through the phone),
guiding me to what Mary Kay can do for me. At the moment I agreed on my
inventory, I prayed. My new dream was coming true, and with the help of Debbie,
my supportive family, and my desire to expand my pathway through life, the
spark came back.
In August 2015, Debbie came to
Houston\Pearland (by way of Ft. Smith, Arkansas) and 10 minutes of her
arriving, my life changed. Yes, we talked about selling, products, and the
business, but my life changed because we talked about God. In the mix of life
happening, I realized that I missed out on my relationship with Him. Yes, I
prayed for healing with my family, but what I was lacking was praying for His
will to be done. Since that day she arrived, I’ve been more connected with Him
than I have in many years. I’m still a work in progress, but I feel more
fulfilled having Him with me all the time. This encourages me that I am
following His plan, and doing what He wants me to do. (Can I get an Amen?)
So what is the new dream? Well,
to me this has two parts. What my dream is with Mary Kay the business, and then
what is my dream with Mary Kay, the leadership?
With Mary Kay’s Business, I hope
as a consultant to share wonderful products that encourages confidence, health,
and fun. I truly know that the products have given me a lot of confidence in my
appearance, so much so that I find myself making better choices in diet, poise,
and trying to exude God’s love that I am filled with.
With Mary Kay’s leadership, the
sky is the limit. My dream is welcome as many women to the company as possible.
In just one month, Mary Kay has changed my life, both at my Full Time Career
and as a growing Christian woman. I pray that I may share with other women what
was shared with me. My dream is to guide people, who may have lost their
“spark”, find it again. Maybe give them tools so that their dreams “evolve” as
mine have as well.
All in all, my dream for my life
is alive in well. I’m not sure where I’m going, but I know in the bottom of my soul
and heart, that I’m where I’m supposed to be. I’m grateful to be able to do
both: Band Director and Beauty Consultant. Call it destiny, call it Devine
intervention, or even call it luck, but whatever it is, I’m excited and looking
forward to this alternative path in life. If you or anyone you know wants to
discuss dreams, make up, skin care, God, or even career opportunities; please
feel free to contact me. I would love the opportunity to share the love and
blessings I’ve been so fortunate to receive in just three short months. God
Bless and much love!
